The Show is the umbrella
Podcast directories usually organize listening around the Show. Listening Record goes one level deeper: a finite Series or self-contained Season is the work being judged. The parent Show still matters, but it is not allowed to blur together separate stories.
That distinction makes questions such as “Which season should I start with?” or “Does this story have a real ending?” answerable at the correct level.
Editorial answers, not catalog summaries
An approved work page gives a direct verdict, a reason to recommend it, best-for and not-for guidance, strengths, caveats, sensitivity guidance, and story, reporting, and tone signals.
Listening Record writes that judgment in its own institutional voice. A directory description may help identify a work, but it is not treated as an editorial recommendation.
True crime first
The first citation-ready collection focuses on true crime, where reporting method, sensitivity, completion state, and the difference between a Show and a Season materially change a recommendation.
Coverage expands by genre only after each work meets the same evidence and editorial-review contract.
Public by decision
Only material deliberately approved for publication belongs in the public recommendation canon. Drafts and withdrawn work stay out of search indexing, and private listening notes, dates, queues, saves, and diary history are not used as public editorial evidence.
